Help

Gameplay

If you want to know about the Sai_ bot, use the "$ai help" command on the discord server.

Disclaimer: I started writing this soon after chapter 213/214 came out, and thus the setting, characters, and level of player knowledge assumed comes from there. Slight alterations have been made to turn it into a mystery, but for the most part everything is correct. Do not assume anything from later chapters because they didn't exist yet at the time of writing, though they may be alluded to in the story because I thought it'd be funny.

If this were a fully original story, I probably would have added more Magma.

Setting

You are on the New Perseus traveling to India from Japan in order to bring more mathematicians and IT experts back to help with the rocket launch. For now, it's easier to bring people to SAL 9000 than to make a second computer.

The Perseus is staffed with several of the most trusted members of the Kingdom of Science, along with you, the player. As you only knew of the Medusa and not what it looks like or how to use it, you have been tasked with solving who activated it.

Movement

All movement should be done on discord using the Sai_ bot with the "move" command. You may move once every 2 hour time slot to an adjacent room. For example, a time slot may be 2:00-4:00, and you may move once at any point during this time. When you do, you won't be able to move again until 4:01.

Calling

To communicate with players in other rooms, you may use the Sai_ bot to make a call using the "call" command. Sai_ will walk you through the process, but it's best to have an idea of what you want to send before you begin (just like real phone calls!)

You will have 3 calls per day, resetting at 0:00. I highly recommend you use these, even if it's just for sending silly messages to your friends.

Note that calls only work when sent from one room to another, not via DMs. Calls will be dropped if no one picks up after 15 minutes.

Shifts

Like any ship, it's a good idea to rotate who's awake and who's asleep to ensure safety. For 8 hours of the day, you will be confined to the bedrooms along with the others who share your shift. Feel free to share information and clues during this time, or to actually just... sleep. But don't forget to say hello to Sai_ when you wake up!

Events

At random points during the game, things may happen between the characters. Players in the rooms themselves and adjacent rooms will be informed that something is going on nearby. These events generally only last a few hours, but the information gained during them can easily be shared.

Locations

The ship has 12 different locations:

Some rooms may be inaccessible at times due to various events. New clues and collectibles may appear at the start of a new day at 0:00 (you may need to refresh the page to see them).

Characters

There are several characters to be found around the ship:

Usually, they will be found manning their posts, but during events they may also be found elsewhere. All the characters are suspects in this mystery.

Clues

As with any mystery, clues are needed to validate characters' alibis and solve puzzles. Clues in this context are only physical items found, and not the words of the characters. You may ask any character about anything, but not all characters will have a useful answer for you.

To pick up a clue, use the "clue" command on the Sai_ bot. Clicking on a clue in a room will give you a question, where the answer is the code needed to pick up that item. For example, you may get the question "Who is the biggest hunk in Ishigami Village?", which you would then use like so: "$ai clue magma". Clues are also not case-sensitive (it doesn't matter if they're capitalized or not) and may have spaces between words.

You may choose to give clues to other players in the same room as you. To do so, use the "give" command on the Sai_ bot.

Collectibles

These are items that do not have any bearing on the main story, but can affect the player. Completing these may give you bonuses and additional information, but others may temporarily hinder your progress.

Collectibles are not tradable between players, and must be collected by individual players themselves.

How many can you find?

Mizz Notes

This game was mostly designed for fun, in a way to appease as many types of players as possible. Whether you want to try soloing, collecting all the collectibles and clues yourself, or working as a huge team, either one is possible. Though it'll take at least 2 very active people to 100% the game, unless you figure out how to cheat. >:)

I have some recommendations depending on how you expect your playstyle to go:

Also, I've hidden a ton of random easter eggs everywhere. Even though I'm still coding the game as I write this, I've already forgotten where I've put some of them. This is because a lot of them took me around 10 minutes to do and I put them in completely on a whim.

Most importantly, have fun! :D
